Neena Gupta On Pay Parity In Bollywood, Questions What Change Can One Bring In This Man’s World
Neena believes that as audiences embrace strong female characters, the industry must also evolve, ensuring equal opportunities for women in Bollywood. She raised questions on the debate and stated that it’s of no use since we live in a man’s world. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, she said, “Yeh jeevan purush pradhan hai. Kya kar loge aap? Kya change lagoge, akele je sakthe ho aap kisi ko saath le ke jaoge koi bhai, baap. Padh likh ke bolte hai ghar mei baitho, abhi bhi pati marta hai kar sakthe ho change.” (This is man’s world; what can you do. What change can you bring alone, even if you have to go somewhere, you need a man; you need a husband, a brother. You can not walk alone, women are told to sit in the houses even after getting so much education. Even now there are crimes against women, they get hit by their husbands, what can you do?)
She also revealed being in such a situation in her entire life where she did things in a certain way being a part of this society.
